The German and English internet presences of ENBW AG are maintained centrally with Infopark CMS Fiona. Additionally, ENBW uses the system to manage their Intranet presence.

The EnBW Energie Baden Württemberg AG is Germany’s third largest power supplier. It has established itself as an innovative service provider, especially in the business segments electricity, gas and long-distance heating. With approximately six million customers and some 20,000 employees, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG generated annual revenue of some € 17.5 billion in 2010. Infopark CMS had already convinced as content management system of the website www.EnBW.com.

Intranet

Infopark CMS Fiona and the SAP Enterprise Portal are merging to create a powerful and service oriented intranet-portal.

Initial situation and objective

EnBW already implemented a classical intranet, based on Infopark CMS Fiona, which contemporary provided its employees with current information. Additionally it was chosen to introduce an SAP Enterprise Portal. The main objective was to consolidate the CMS with the SAP Enterprise Portal, to create a powerful solution providing service oriented information to employees. The challenge for Infopark within this project, was the integration of content managed by the CMS, into the SAP Enterprise Portal.

Basic requirements for the integration of a CMS into the SAP Enterprise Portal

For a successful consolidation with the SAP Enterprise Portal, it is essential for a CMS to have an open architecture and a multiple of comprehensive interfaces. Furthermore the CMS has to provide the opportunity to simple and fast edit and publish contents. Infopark CMS Fiona does not only meet all requirements, it also convinces the employees of EnBW through its excellent usability.

Implementation in three phases

For the implementation of the project, a task force consisting of EnBW-employees and consultants of the companies LogigaCMG, SAP and Infopark was formed. Based on a close cooperation, the actual implementation was split into three phases. Within the first phase the realization was initiated. Therefore Infopark CMS Fiona was integrated into the SAP Enterprise Portal and the main content of the EnBW Holding was unlocked and activated. In the second step, the system was brought forward to further associated companies of the EnBW corporation. The integration of additional services into the intranet-portal was the basic challenge of the third phase.

Advantages of the newly integrated intranet-portal

For their internal communication, the EnBW uses a personalized and service oriented system. Applying the Single-Sign-On function of the Portal Manager, included in Infopark CMS Fiona, all applications of the CMS and the SAP Enterprise Portal can be accessed with a singular login process. In addition contents can be created user friendly with Infopark CMS Fiona and directly be published in the SAP Portal.

Handling

For working with the new intranet, employees need no further SAP-skills. The creation and change of navigation items and content is simply done with the user interface of Infopark CMS Fiona. In doing so all content structures of the SAP Enterprise Portal are kept in place and complemented by the comfortable navigation structure of Infopark CMS Fiona. This also offers the additional advantage that the user interface can be brought out in a uniform layout and design. Navigation and layout are separated from the basic content, which enables changes concerning the layout, without the modification of any content. Based on this prerequisite it is possible to realize a uniform design, build on the corporate design of EnBW, within the SAP portal.

Politics Portal with Self Service

Since 2011 EnBW’s intranet features a politics portal providing staff with vital information and opinions concerning energy politics. Current topics, studies and a lot more are compiled in a clear and concise way.

The site features a search function, a subscription service to certain categories and tags to label articles to help visitors find relevant information. Categories like „gas“, „coal“ or „climate“ can be subscribed to by RSS feed. Employees have also got the option to save topics of interest to them in their online profile and decide how often they would like to receive information.
These data are compiled and saved in Infopark Online Marketing Cockpit (OMC) and synchronized with Infopark CMS Fiona. Employees receive daily, weekly or monthly e-mails featuring all new articles for the chosen topics.

In addition to the operated websites enbw.de and .com also smaller websites are implemented with Infopark CMS Fiona.

ODR Technologie Services GmbH

ODR Technologie Services GmbH, a member of EnBW group, offers advanced products and services in telecommunications. The subsidiary of EnBW Ostwürttemberg DonauRies AG decided in favor of Infopark CMS Fiona using EnBW’s corporate license.

Before Infopark CMS Fiona online editors had to hand over pictures and texts to be uploaded to the IT department of the company. Large-scale changes to the website had to be carried out be an agency. Thanks to Infopark CMS Fiona online editors can now upload contents themselves.

An Infopark consultant implemented the multimedia contents on site in thirty days and also harmonized the corporate design with that of EnBW. The website also features an extensive search function and an application to check dsl availability.
