The Infopark Content Management System is used in the four clinics of the "Gesundheit Nord" group and at the group itself.

Clinic fusion

“Gesundheit Nord” consists of four large hospitals in Bremen: “Bremen-Mitte”, “Bremen-Ost”, “Bremen-Nord” and “Links der Weser”. On January 1st, 2005, the holding was founded combining the four hospitals. The aim was to improve their efficiency and competitiveness. In May 2005, the decision was taken to create a unified web site to establish “Gesundheit Nord – clinic group Bremen” as a brand to present their competence in the fields of medical treatment and patient care.

Decision making and use of Infopark CMS Fiona

“Bremen-Ost” and “Links der Weser” currently use another Content Management System which turned out to be inadequate. The decision to use Infopark’s CMS was made because the maintenance of the web pages needed a lot of IT department manpower and a complex folder structure made working with the system difficult. Being able to administrate and maintain content without the help of a web agency was one of the most important factors in the CMS selection process.

Another important reason to use the Infopark solution for all clinics was the experience made using the CMS for the intranet at “Bremen-Nord”, and the open system architecture which makes it easy connecting to other applications. “The scripting interface is another important feature for us because we can complete smaller and bigger tasks quickly.”, sayed Martin Dolhs, data base supervisor at the system retailer i2dm. A Novell LDAP connection is used in “Bremen-Nord”, an Active Directory connection and a Tomcat-based phone book is used in “Bremen-Mitte”. Additionally, forum, phone book, and room planning applications (Tomcat-based) are used in “Bremen-Nord”.

The possibility to reduce maintenance and training efforts and reuse existing data was also important in the decision to use Infopark CMS Fiona for all clinics of the “Gesundheit Nord” hospital group. The user-friendly interface of Fiona facilitates working with the system further.

Future prospects

In addition to the unified internet site, a new unified intranet will be created. “Bremen Nord” and “Bremen-Mitte” have already been incorporated into the new intranet.

The intranet will be the central information repository so that documents and information can be changed easily. The different CMS installations are being merged in a central instance at “Bremen-Mitte”. The implementation is made by Infopark partner i2dm.
