Coinciding with the change of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union the new website went online with the Infopark CMS Fiona on January first, 2006. |

The Presidency
The Presidency, i.e. the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, is held by the Member States in turn for a period of six months. The Council unanimously determines the order of rotation.
In the first half of 2006, Austria held the Presidency for the second time since accession to the EU in 1995. It first held the Presidency in 1998.
The project
During the Presidency the public was invited to observe the primary events on the accessible website www.eu2006.at. Live videos were provided in several languages. To find the required information quickly an extensive conference calendar and a convenient search function based on the Infopark Search Cartridge were available as well. The website was implemented by the Vienna office of Babiel, partner of Infopark AG.
When Luxembourg held the presidency in the first half of 2005, the accompanying website was also implemented using Infopark’s CMS.
