By means of the BITKOM exhibition pilot, member companies are enabled to publish exhibition data and receive information about exhibitions of companies working in the IT, telecommunication, and new media branches. |
The German federal association of the information economy, telecommunications, and new media (BITKOM) is the spokesman of Germany’s companies working in these branches. The BITKOM exhibition portal is a project of the BITKOM holding organization. Its aim is to present exhibitions and other relevant events of the IT industry on a common platform to the public.
At the IT trade fair “SYSTEMS 2005” in Munich, the exhibition portal was presented for the first time. The website was created using Infopark’s portal and CMS software. In the presence of 500 guests, BITKOM’s president, Willi Berchthold, thanked Infopark AG for the realization. Together with Bernd Völcker, member of the management board of Infopark AG and of BITKOM, he introduced the system to the present political and economical top representatives.
Next to exhibition information and branch-specific news, the exhibition portal offers to companies the possibility to rate national and international exhibitions of the IT industry. Rating is accomplished by means of an automated survey method. Furthermore, a protected member area exists which serves for exchanging experiences, for comparing exhibition data, and for accessing a knowledge base dealing with exhibitions. Another highlight of the site is the exhibition Wiki which has been implemented by Infopark for registered visitors. It offers all information about exhibitions. Additionally, many well-structured checklists are available as PDF files. These checklists include the criteria for judging the success of an exhibition stand.
The exhibition portal was realized by Infopark in a few weeks and in a quick and unbureaucratic manner. Already in the test stage in early 2005, nearly 100 companies registered with www.messepilot.de.
