At eight locations in Germany, the Center for Information Processing and Informational Technologies (ZIVIT) provides a wide variety of IT services for the Administration of the German Federation. The Center has 1000 employees. 440 staff members are software developers, 370 are services consultants or system administrators. The ZIVIT hosts several internet presences and develops base components for “BundOnline”. By means of the base components, the paymants of all public officials is calculated and payed out, child benefits are processed, the federal budget is determined, fulfilled, and cleared.
Intranet
The intranet platform serves the public authorities as a knowledge management portal. Every staff member of the authorities taking part in this project can publish content using Infopark CMS Fiona, without the aid of a system administrator. By means of the CMS, employees from different sectors of the financial administration distribute information to all administrative branches and produce offers addressed to the internet public.
Internet
The website of the ZIVIT aims at making the work and tasks of the ZIVIT transparent to the citizens. For example, the administration is introduced to the public, and a well-structured spectrum of services is available, including examples and other sources of information as well as an overview of current projects and plans for the future.
