For the relaunch of its website Rhein-Kreis Neuss decided to use Infopark CMS Fiona. Apart from the modern and attractive design the website was optimized considering special features supporting accessibility. |
Rhein-Kreis Neuss
Rhein-Kreis Neuss is one of the most densely populated regions in Europe. It has roughly 450.000 inhabitants and 28.000 undertakings of all kinds, sizes and branches as well as the highest economic growth of all cities and regions in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Decision for Infopark
To simplify the maintainance of the website for its editors, an easy to use content management solution had to be chosen. The final decision favored Infopark CMS Fiona.
Easy handling
For editors, numerous advantages facilitate the work with the CMS. Using an interface to MS-Word, accessible press releases can easily be published. Images can be edited directly while they are imported using an Image-Wizard. In doing so image versions with different sizes are created, that are needed in various areas of the website. An XML-interface regularly imports information, like contact details and public tenders of the region, from Lotus Notes into the CMS.
Due to the flexible surface adaptation of Infopark CMS Fiona, designated changes to the user interface were quickly implemented. “Anybody able to use MS-Word, should be able to use the CMS.” says Harald Vieten, press officer of Rhein-Kreis Neuss.
Success of the relaunch
Due to its easy handling, all members of staff are able to use the system. Since the implementation of Infopark CMS Fiona the number of editors working with the system increased from one to 26. This development particularly favored the up-to-dateness of the website.
The speed of opening a page of rhein-kreis-neuss.de actually doubled compared to the old website. The amount of page views rapidly increased in the first months.
Harald Vieten shows himself very pleased with result of the relaunch: “Infopark CMS Fiona offers new potentials to us to maximize our effectiveness.”
Converted features
In addition to a forum and a guestbook also a full text search feature was implemented to enable users to search through meanwhile 6.000 pages. An RSS-Feed is used keeping website users up to date. Furthermore, the website was constructed entirely accessible.
The project was implemented by the Babiel GmbH, a premium partner of Infopark.
