About Fraunhofer FOKUS
The Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems, FOKUS, has been researching and developing communication and integration solutions for partners in industry, research and public administration for more than 20 years. The organizational base for the tasks of the institute are six competence centers.
Decision for Infopark CMS Fiona
After comparing several Content Management Systems, the Fraunhofer Institute decided at the beginning of 2007 to realize their new website with Infopark CMS Fiona. „Based on a corporate design we would like to present our publications, projects and competence centers online in a clear way“, says Angelika Tack, internet director at Fraunhofer FOKUS about the objective of introducing the system.
Another requirement for using the system was that a wizard could be integrated into the CMS. A wizard is a helper program that can be used, for example, to create new web pages. Every editor is now able to work with the system without any background knowledge.
Maintaining the Competence Centers
The six competence centers of Fraunhofer FOKUS introduce themselves on the multilingual website, in a consistent presentational form. For each competence center, one editor is responsible for maintaining the content. „The CMS made it possible to efficiently meet the requirements of the editors“, says Angelika Tack who is enthusiastic about using Infopark’s software solution.
Searching Made Easy
Infopark integrated efficient search technology into the website. The use of Infopark Search Catridge makes it much easier to find the desired content, not least because the search results are presented clearly. According to Angelika Tack, the user has fast access to particular pages helping her to stay informed.
