Hochschule Heilbronn Hochschule Heilbronn

Heilbronn University

The university was founded in 1961. Today it is one of Baden-Württemberg’s largest universities with 6000 students and three campuses in Heilbronn, Künzelsau and Schwäbisch Hall.

A Makeover

Before the university decided to implement Infopark CMS Fiona, its website was maintained using a CMS that provided only very slow page loading times. Moreover, administering the site’s contents was much more time-consuming. Infopark CMS Fiona changed all that. The aim of the project was to build a modern website tailored to the specific target audience with an intuitive user interface and efficient maintenance.

Addressing the target audience

The homepage now addresses three different target audiences – prospective students, students and alumni. Visitors of the website who do not fall into either of these categories can navigate using the keywords at the bottom of the homepage or the search function.

Intuitive Navigation

The website consists of independent yet interwoven sections presenting their contents in a corporate design with flat navigation and teasers. Most sections have got their own landing pages which provide good orientation within each category. To facilitate navigation even further, a menu is provided with links to landing pages visited before. "The new navigation is an enormous improvement compared to the old website.", says Professor Winckler about the new web design.

The Newsroom

So far students had to gather required information on news, dates and job offers from many sub sites. The new concept of a newsroom enables students to summarize all relevant information on the course, faculty and university on one page making hopping from one page to the next unnecessary.

A Consistent Design

Certain information exist for all courses of study or faculties. During the relaunch of the website common structures were unified. This facilitates orientation on other faculties’ pages as well a the placement of contents for editors.

Login for More Information

Students can log on to the webpage and access internal information on the intranet. In the respective newsroom they can also view news and information which are not visible to the public, for example announcements specific to one course of study.
