Migration to the latest version of Infopark CMS Fiona
Since their foundation in 2001, Fundorado use a licensed version of Infopark’s CMS Fiona 5.2.5. In the year 2010 they decided to migrate to the latest version. Initially the company’s executives were concerned if such a complex migration is possible without major complications and disruptions to the business. „We were skeptical whether a switch to the latest version of Fiona can be carried out without problems during operations and had to minimize the risk of any down time. But everything went smoothly and our systems were running on Infopark CMS Fiona’s latest version in no time,“ says Fundorado project manager and CMS developer Lars Piehler. Active support by Infopark’s consulting team made sure the migration of four instances to Infopark CMS Fiona went ahead without difficulties. Two portals, the official company website of FunDorado GmbH as well as a partner instance with four independent partner websites now run on Infopark CMS Fiona on one server. „The technical merger of the web portals, the innovations of version 6.7 in connection with the new technological reliability were our main focus and we are happy that we decided in favor of Fiona 6.7“, adds Piehler.
Innovation through migration
At the moment FunDorado manages more than 600.000 objects with a volume of 28 GB with Infopark CMS Fiona. The migration to Infopark CMS Fiona 6.7.2 was managed by incremental export with a template engine. Before, static exports were carried out which meant that all data had to be written onto hard drives. Now only data that changed and new data are added thus saving enormous amounts of time. Moreover, Infopark’s consultant was able to optimize processes on site thus improving the workflow of editors working with the CMS. Changes in the user interface simplified work processes.
